Wonderwalk: a new kind of city guide app

I’ve always been obsessed with history — the kind you can stand on, touch, and feel. If I weren’t building apps and working in tech, my alternative careers would be 1) VFX producer in Hollywood, or 2) an archaeologist chasing ancient ruins like a modern-day Indiana Jones.
I’m the kind of person who always stops to read those old info signs on the street. I’ll happily get lost in the story of a building or a forgotten corner of the city. I’ve wandered through the ruins of Pompeii, hunted for Maya pyramids on the Yucatán, and detoured just to explore a crumbling castle or abandoned fort.
But every time I’ve done that, I’ve thought: why isn’t there a good app for this? City walks are scattered across bad apps, tourist PDFs, or generic guidebooks. There’s no go-to platform for discovering cities through stories. No “AllTrails for urban explorers.”
That felt like both a gap — and an opportunity.
In 2022, I started building an app called Journey. I brought in a dev team while running my consulting company, but the project stalled before beta. Budgeting was tough, and my energy faded.
Now I’m back at it. New name. Clearer vision. Development is moving fast — and I’m more excited than ever to bring Wonderwalk to life.
